In 1964, the Vice Postulation was both authorised and commissioned by the Bishop of Fatima to publish the «Memoirs of Sister Lucia», and to ensure the faithful translation of these memoirs into the various languages.

There is no better way of getting to know about the apparitions in Fatima and the heroic lives of the little Shepherds than to read the book entitled «Fatima in Lucia’s own Words». It contains memories which can be regarded as a presence engraved in fire in the soul of the visionary: “These things are so clearly engraved in one’s soul that it is not easy to forget them”, as Lucia herself has said. Hence, these Memoirs constitute above all a re-reading of what was engraved, once and for all, in the depths of the author’s heart. She gives the impression not so much of recalling but rather of actually reliving what she relates; such is her readiness of recall that what she writes becomes an ‘inner reading’

«Fatima in Lucia’s own Words» is undoubtedly one of the most extraordinary works of Catholic literature of our time. It is the richest, most vivid and most complete account of what happened in Fatima. To read it is to see how the little Shepherds were themselves the first to put into practice the message which the Angel, and then Our Lady herself, had brought to the world and in so doing attained heroic levels in the practice of the Christian virtues.
